    The main transcript is preceded by transcripts by McOmie of Scott`s account of the circumstances of the donation (folio 1) and Scott`s presentation note, 19 July 1782, to David Steuart Erskine, Earl of Buchan (succeeded 1767) (folio ii).

    Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.

  • Custodial History

    At folio i are Buchan`s note, 12 May 1801, presenting the transcript to the Advocates` Library to be placed in the Macfarlane transcripts, which he was instrumental in securing for the Library, and the Library`s ex-libris, dated 1802. Buchan`s bookplate is affixed to the inner front cover.
