Copy of the `Velitatio in Georgium Buchananum` of Ninian Winzet, which was published as part of his ‘Flagellum Sectarioram’.
Scope and Contents
The manuscript is a copy of the complete text preceded by the dedicatory epistle but without the marginal summaries and the Synopsis.
Together with Adv.MS.33.7.20 it was made at the Benedictine Abbey of St. James, Ratisbon, in or about 1684, for the Abbot, Thomas (Dom Placid) Fleming by Andrew Cook, one of the monks (who subsequently became Prior), as a present to Christopher Irvine, physician and philologist.
The text is followed by copies of documents relating to the Abbey: the Privilege granted by Pope Alexander III in 1177 to Gregory I, Abbot of Ratisbon (folio 144); the Privilege granted by the Emperor Frederick II in 1220 (folio 146); the Act of the Emperor Lewis IV in 1330 in favour of the monastery (folio 149); and the Letter of King James V of Scotland to the authorities of the town of Ratisbon in 1528 (folio 151).
