Bound in a contemporary binding with gold-stamped ornaments similar to those in the binding of Adv.MS.35.6.3.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.

Related Materials

Tytler’s name does not appear, but Adv.MS.16.2.14, another, somewhat different copy of the work, written in the same hand presumably shortly later, is ascribed to him by James Maidment, a later owner. This copy contains sentences at folios 33 and 33 verso which were omitted from the other copy, and does not have the additions to the text corresponding to folios 1, 2 verso, 8, 44, 44 verso and 47 verso.

Another, incomplete, copy of the account, with observations thereon, is at Adv.MS.17.1.15.

Adv.MS.35.6.3: Copy of a work written shortly after the death in 1751 of Frederick Lewis, Prince of Wales, to show that the principalities usually possessed by the Prince of Wales belong to the Crown.
