Entries in red include Saints Palladius (6 July) and Machar (12 November), 'Dedicacio ecciesie cathedralis aberdonensis' (3 November) and the obits of Elizabeth Lauder, 1494 (11 June) and Master Robert Brown, 1460 (23 December). (x) Table for finding the date of Easter. (Folio 153 verso.)

Written in one hand in littera textualis throughout, with the exception of section (iii) which is in littera textualis rotunda. There are four large miniatures in full borders depicting the owner of the book accompanied by a saint with mitre and crozier, kneeling before an altar of the Virgin (folio 17 verso), the Virgin and Child in an arched gothic frame on a pink ground (folio 50 verso), David in prayer (folio 90 verso), and the raising of Lazarus (folio 111 verso). The last miniature is in a different style from the rest. All the miniatures and their facing pages have full borders of naturalistic flowers, insects and peacocks on gold grounds (a pink ground on folios 50 verso-51). There is a similar border on folio 72 verso. The illumination belongs to the Ghent/Bruges school and is similar to that in the prayer books of Maximilian I and James IV (Vienna, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Codd. lat. 1907 and 1897). Initials throughout are in gold or mauve and white on blue or red grounds.
