Scope and Contents
The firm acted as legal advisers to the Church of Scotland in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The early letters, some of which are personal, are chiefly to John Spottiswoode of Spottiswoode (died 1805); the later ones (1858-1865) to the firm of Maitland and Graham.
