'Account of the island of St Kilda and neighbouring islands, visited in August, 1799.’
Scope and Contents
The visit, which covered the 10-11 August, corresponds in many respects to that paid by Henry Brougham, John Joseph Henry, and Charles Stuart about that time. The account may, therefore, have been written by one of that party, though not by Brougham himself, who landed on the island later than the writer - see folios 4, 91, and “Brougham's life and times” (Edinburgh, 1871), volume i, page 100.
From the blanks left for certain words, this appears to be a copy of a less legible original.
