He also presented several documents, which are indicated under the relevant description.

    The papers were formerly in the possession of Major-General Sir Walter Maxwell Scott, Baronet, Companion of the Order of the Bath, Distinguished Service Order, at Abbotsford. They were bought by the National Library of Scotland with the aid of the Reid Fund.
