The contents are as follows:
(i) Chronicle of the Kings of Scotland, consisting partly of a translation from the historical works of David Chalmers of Ormond and George Buchanan. Printed by the Maitland Club as ‘A Chronicle of the Kings of Scotland’ (1830), edited by James Whitefoord Mackenzie, Writer to the Signet. (Page 1.)

(vi) History of the family of Kennedy, often referred to as 'History of the Kennedies'. This text is the basis for Robert Pitcairn's 'Historical and genealogical account of the principal families of the name of Kennedy' (Edinburgh 1830). The manuscript has been collated with Pitcairn’s printed edition by Sir James Ferguson of Kilkerran, and a copy of his collation is kept with the manuscript.
