Arrangement

The collection arrangement is in keeping with the original order imposed by Lady Lucinda Mackay and documented in her submitted inventories when Accessions 13504 and 13574 were presented to the Archives and Manuscript Division. Where it was felt appropriate certain items have been moved from one series to another and this transfer noted in the relevant file.

Custodial History

Prior to receipt by the NLS Archives & Manuscript Division, all accessions within the collection resided in the private residence of the artist. The series of ephemera (Acc.14383) was previously held by the NLS General Collections Department following its arrival at the Library (shelf mark EL.3.97.4), but was transferred in 2022 to the Archives & Manuscript Division.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Presented by Lady Lucinda Mackay in successive stages between 2014-2022.
