Scope and Contents

The recordings were originally made for the purpose of writing up shop stewards' bulletins by the publicity committee. The events covered include: mass meetings of UCS workers; shop steward meetings; press interviews; and television and radio programmes concerning UCS.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

The original recordings were captured on magnetic tape audio reels (24 x 18cm tape reel (9.5 cm/s (3.75 ips)). These were digitised under the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage (UOSH) project. The formats of the digitised copies are JPEG and WAV files.

Custodial History

The tapes were temporarily deposited in the National Library of Scotland to enable digitisation under the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage (UOSH) project.
