Content Description
The journal describes a visit to Scotland in the summer of 1841. The party travelled by sea from Liverpool to Greenock. From there they took the train to Linlithgow and viewed the railway works on the Almond Valley before travelling on to Edinburgh by chaise. After sightseeing in Edinburgh they sailed to Aberdeen where they visited family in Newmill. Their tour then took them to Inverness, to Sutherland, Granton, Aviemore and Dunkeld before returning to Glasgow before returning home by boat. The journal records visits to tourist attractions such as Dunrobin Castle, Grant Castle, the Falls of Bruar and the Hunterian Museum.
