Scope and Contents

The collection reflects Sir Lewis Robertson`s personal and business activities during the later years of his life. The correspondence files, 2003-2008, and letter books, 2004-2008, show his active involvement in many charitable and cultural bodies until his death in November 2008. Of particular interest are several volumes of speeches and interviews, 1989-2003, and three diaries, 1978-1980, dated during his time as Director of the Scottish Development Agency. Sir Lewis Robertson kept an electronic database of his many personal and business contacts. He also created a filing system for his personal archive. The last volume of the index covers the period from 1994 until 2003. Other indexes can be found in Acc.12345/189.

Custodial History

Sir Lewis Robertson died in November 2008. The later part of his archive, comprising mainly correspondence, speeches, diaries and an electronic database, was presented to the National Library of Scotland in July 2009. The original system of arrangement has been preserved with very minor alterations.
