This collection of records, supplementing earlier sections of the John Murray Archive, contains press files, sales catalogues and advertising material, educational publishing papers, business records, and author papers administered by John Murray publishers in the ordinary course of their commercial trade.

Also included are papers and correspondence documenting company history and staff experiences; the operation of the company's historical archive; alongside a small collection of Murray family papers; and print material retained by the company, primarily literary journals and professional circulars.
