Scope and Contents

John James Twist and his travelling companion, C.P. Purton, travelled by rail from Wolverhampton for a month`s holiday in Scotland. In Scotland they took the coach and and steamer, but lalso walked, visiting Lanark, Edinburgh, Burntisland, Loch Leven, Perth, Oban, Inverary, Tarbet, Loch Lomond, Dunkeld, Aberfeldy, Loch Tay, Killin, Glencoe, Loch Katrine, Callendar, Stirling and Alloa.

John James Twist comments, often humorously, on places visited, their lodgings and people they meet along the way. The journal is illustrated with pasted in pen and ink sketches, water-colour drawings and a bill for lodgings near Loch Awe.
