The order is as follows: documents listed in `Charter Chest of the Earldom of Wigtown, 1214-1681`, Francis J Grant (ed), Scottish Record Society, 1910, in the same order (Ch.15531-16097); additional documents listed by the Scottish Record Office (Ch.16098-16370); documents removed for practical reasons from the papers and in the order of these (Ch.16371-16631); and miscellaneous documents, mostly formerly mounted in an album `Volume II` (Ch.16632-16730).
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Ch.15531 presented, 1985, by Prof G W S Barrow, Edinburgh, and Prof A A M Duncan, Glasgow; Ch.15758 transferred, 1985, from the Scottish Record Office; the remainder (1) presented, 1960, by Lord Cameron, Senator of the College of Justice, and (2) presented, 1985, by Lt Col J A Burns, Somerset (formerly Scottish Record Office, GD.101).
