He was editor of the ‘Northern Chronicle’, co-editor of the ‘Highland Monthly’, and author of a number of works relating to Highland history, notably the ‘Book of Garth and Fortingall’. Willis was educated at the City of Norwich Secondary School. He served in the Royal Navy from 1919 until 1930.
