Scope and Contents
Mackintosh MacKay was a native of the Reay Country, the son of Captain Alexander MacKay of Duard Beg. In 1828 William Forbes Skene, then nineteen, was sent by his father, at Sir Walter Scott’s recommendation, to study Gaelic with him at Laggan.
