Scope and Contents
The general arrangement is the same as that of the first printed edition of 1681 (except that Titles 18 and 19 appear in reverse order) but the text is generally shorter and illustrated with references to earlier case-decisions, and most of the titles are divided into fewer paragraphs. According to a note inside the front cover, dated Perth, 4th August 1731, this copy was written by Sir Alexander Falconer, Lord Halkerton, in his own hand.The lists of paragraphs have been omitted...

This loose collection of papers belonged to Duncan Campbell, who was born at the farm of Kerrumore, Glenlyon, of which his family had been tenants for three generations. He was editor of the ‘Northern Chronicle’, co-editor of the ‘Highland Monthly’, and author of a number of works relating to Highland history, notably the ‘Book of Garth and Fortingall’. The sources are mainly the original manuscripts then in the Advocates` Library, with notes taken from Richard Augustine Hay`s works. Only those documents the present location of whose originals is unknown are indexed in detail.
