The collection is known both as the `Denmilne State Papers` and the `Denmilne Collection`. Less formally it is often referred to as the `Denmilne Manuscripts`.

Scope and Contents Except one of Archbishop Leighton, the letters are of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Several are addressed to the Mures of Caldwell; others to Archibald Constable. The papers appear to have belonged to Lord Swinton, and may be the collection of the Reverend Samuel Semple, Swinton’s maternal grandfather (cf. FES i, 172).

Dates: 17th century.

Volume entitled 'Celtic music', compiled by David R Robertson, a mercantile clerk in Dundee, consisting of pipe tunes, poems, notes and memoranda, extracts from published sources, letters from correspondents interested in Gaelic culture, and some press cuttings and photographs.
