Scope and Contents
The Reverend Donald Stewart, a native of the Loch Earn district of Perthshire, was a minister of St Mark’s, Demerara, from his arrival 29 April 1831 to his death seven months later. The contents are as follows.(i) Lease of Lednascriden, Balquhidder, 1776 (folio 1);(ii) Letter of Donald Stewart, Georgetown, 30 April 1831, to his father and brother, both John Stewart, Findglen, Loch Earn. Scope and Contents
Two unpublished letters, one of Sir Walter Scott to John Wilson Crocker and the other of Ann Scott to her granddaughter Jessie, are reproduced in the text. The volume also includes a pedigree, from which one leaf is missing, showing the descendants of Sir Walter and Thomas Scott, and portraits of Thomas Scott, his wife and his mother, as well as other family photographs.
