The collection is known both as the `Denmilne State Papers` and the `Denmilne Collection`. Less formally it is often referred to as the `Denmilne Manuscripts`.

Dates: Early 17th century.

Manuscript of the ‘Regiam Maiestatem’, ‘Quoniam attachiamenta’, statutes, burgh laws, ‘De judicibus’, and other smaller legal texts, mostly in Scots, written in the 3rd quarter of the 15th century. Sections (xxv)-(xxvii) are a slightly later addition.

Scope and Contents The contents of the manuscript are as follows:(i) `Regiam Maiestatem` in 4 books of 191 continuously numbered chapters (34, 74, 26, and 57 in each book respectively) with table at the beginning (folio 1). The end of chapter 6 to the beginning of chapter 14 is lost. ‘Acts of the Parliament of Scotland’, i, pages 233-277.(ii) `Quoniam attachiamenta` in 61 chapters with table at the beginning (folio 60 verso).
