Scope and Contents

The collection is known both as the `Denmilne State Papers` and the `Denmilne Collection`. Less formally it is often referred to as the `Denmilne Manuscripts`.

Dates: 1548-1641.

Manuscript of the ‘Regiam Maiestatem’, baron court laws, burgh and guild laws, and some other legal texts, some in Scots, written by George Cuyk (later clerk of the Privy Seal) in 1528.
