There are letters and papers of Mary Haldane’s sisters Jane and Elizabeth, and her brother Sir John Burdon-Sanderson, Baronet, and his wife, Ghetal, née Herschell. Scope and Contents

John Chisholm, from Perth, studied at Edinburgh and Leipzig, and was admitted advocate in 1881. He stood unsuccessfully as a Conservative at the elections of 1885 and 1892. He took silk in 1904 and was appointed Sheriff of Roxburgh, Berwick and Selkirk in 1905. He married in 1892, and died in 1929.

Scope and Contents

Born in Aberdeenshire, Charles Murray went to South Africa in 1888, where he rose to be Deputy-Inspector of Mines for the Transvaal (1901) and Secretary for Public Works in the Union of South Africa (1910). He never lost touch with Scotland, and many of his poems are in the dialect of the north east.
