Scope and Contents Journal of a tour to France, Switzerland and Germany by Andrew MacInnes and `Richard`. At the back of the volume are accounts of expenses on the tour, mileages and a number of Scottish songs. The notebook is bound in a larger twentieth century volume together with a full transcript and a letter of 1928 of Andrew MacInnes, Saint William, Ontario, Canada, son of the diarist, to his nephew Clayton McCall donating the journal to him. Account of Campbell's journey through Belgium and Germany along with a page of notes signed by Robert Campbell relating to the University of Cambridge. Tour account includes a description of travelling from Liverpool to London on the Birmingham Railway and on Belgian railways.

Content Description

Photograph album containing black and white photographic prints recording the work of the War Department Light Railways on the Western Front in March 1918. Subjects depicted include the construction and maintenance of tracks, locomotives and rolling stock, transportation of field guns to the front, and movement of troops. The album was compiled to accompany a written report on the operations of the War Department Light Railways.

Scope and Contents From the Series:

A group of about 2500 plans, chiefly made by Messrs Stevenson. Their business was concerned chiefly with sea-works, lighthouses, harbours, canals and river courses, and the plans reflect this interest, although there are some items relating to railways and bridges.
