Scope and Contents From the Series: The Edinburgh Skating Club was clearly well-established in 1784 when the first minute book starts. Apart from a few years of inactivity the Club flourished until the early 1900's when combined figure-skating declined in popularity. It was finally dissolved in 1966. Although the Club attracted a large proportion of its members from the legal profession, the Edinburgh Skating Club was not socially exclusive and the membership lists include local noblemen, merchants, army offers and a slater....

The organisation promotes family engagement in education.

Scope and Contents From the Series: Formed to promote the interests of hammermen, the Incorporation's minute books contain statutes for the regulation of the crafts involved. These regulations are seen to be observed in the entries regarding the training of apprentices, admissions, and standards of goods produced. The majority of entries relate to financial matters such as fines for trading malpractices, and until the mid 16th century, to moral misdemeanours. The archive gives a complete picture of the financial basis of one of the most significant organised religious bodies in Scotland, from the Disruption to the first of the major Presbyterian reunions, dealing in great detail with the sources of finance and with its expenditure on a variety of projects.
