Established on 31 January 1782, for social intercourse and ‘business occasionally intermixed’, the Monthly Club aimed at including noblemen and gentlemen from every county in Scotland. A list of members is given at page 9. The meetings were held in Fortune’s Tavern, Edinburgh. The subjects discussed include the proposed Scottish Poor Law, 1786 (pages 22-24) and the proposed amendments of the Corn Law, 1786-1787 (pages 24, 28-29, 33-37, 40-43).

Scope and Contents From the Fonds: Grange Cricket Club was formed in 1832, and takes its name from the Grange area of Edinburgh where the members first played. The club moved to its present Raeburn Place premises in 1872.
