Typescript drafts of miscellaneous articles of Ruthven Todd., 1956-1978, undated.

 File
Identifier: MS.26861
Scope and Contents From the Series: Much of Ruthven Todd's prose writing, especially in his later life, was repetitious: he not only made numerous drafts and re-writings, but he used the same material in both books and articles. In particular, he made use of his own reminiscences in his work on Dylan Thomas and Fitzrovia as well as in the more autobiographical 'Dead and other friends and places'. MSS.26834-26856 contain material intended for full-length books; MSS.26857-26863 consist of shorter works and...

Typescript drafts of 'Old friends' by Sir James Matthew Barrie, annotated, apparently for the original production of March 1910., Early 20th century.

 Sub-Series
Identifier: MSS.6636-6638
Scope and Contents

There are indications that this group of manuscripts was corrected and annotated with the original production of March 1910 in mind. In particular, MS.6638 has no corrections in James Barrie's hand, but has many stage and lighting directions in another hand, probably that of the 'D. McRae' whose name is written on the cover label. It may well have been the electrician's or stage manager's copy.

Dates: Early 20th century.

Typescript drafts of ‘The twelve-pound look’ by Sir James Matthew Barrie, with corrections and revisions in the hand of the author.

 Series
Identifier: MSS.6642-6643
Scope and Contents Neither typescript draft is a carbon, and there is no direct relationship between them. MS.6642 appears to be the earlier: the names of the characters differ from those given in MS.6643 and in the printed version as found in ‘The definitive edition of the plays of J M Barrie', page 761, so that 'Sir James Ings' is equivalent to 'Sir Harry Sims', 'Lady Ings' to 'Lady Sims', 'Marion' to 'Kate', and 'Findlater' to 'Tombes'. There must have been at least one corrected version beween MS.6642 and...
