The contents are as follows:
(i) Eighteenth-century copy of 'Criminal forms', by Sir William Hamilton of Whitelaw, Lord justice Clerk.
(ii) Copy of the Report on the fees of the Court of Justiciary, 1733 (folio 79);
(iii) A table of justiciary fees, 1749 (folio 89).
Papers (many undated) relating to the occupation of France by the allies, including a list of General Sir George Murray`s papers compiled in 1851 (folio 1), a list of his books and maps, written on paper watermarked 1813 (folio 121), lists of cantonments of British troops (folio 159) and a quantity of unused printed forms for correspondence and statistical returns (folio 197)., 1813-1818, 1851, and undated.
The collection consists of letters, orders, reports, and maps relating to Murray’s military career, to his official and diplomatic duties and to his literary activities. It is arranged in nearly chronological order illustrating the various periods of his career.
Papers of the 1st Earl of Minto, chiefly concerning the payment of taxes., 1792-1812.
The contents are as follows. (i) Papers, chiefly receipts and forms, concerning the payment of assessed and property taxes in the parishes of St James, Westminister, and Roehampton, and in Scotland, 1792-1793, 1797-1798, 1803-1804, 1811-1812 (folio 1); (ii) Receipts for the payment of the property tax by the 1st Earl of Minto's tenants in Roxburghshire, 1810-1812 (folio 55).
