The numerous pen and ink and watercolour drawings include shooting, fishing, deer-stalking, sailing, Highland Games, horse-racing, boxing, military, smuggling and an Edinburgh street scenes. With maps of the Gledfield and Craigdarroch estates and There are also watercolour drawings of The Hibernian on which the author and his father crossed the Atlantic on their visit to North America
Small miscellany of papers acquired by General Sir George Murray at different times before he went to Spain, consisting of letters and reports (with a few sketch-maps) describing various battles and campaigns, and concerning army enlistment and recruitment., 1801-1807, and undated.
The collection consists of letters, orders, reports, and maps relating to Murray’s military career, to his official and diplomatic duties and to his literary activities. It is arranged in nearly chronological order illustrating the various periods of his career.
