Volume of John Riddell entitled `Genealogical Collections`, commenced in 1807 and completed in 1811, containing transcripts and extracts of charters dating from the 13th to the 15th century relating to various Scottish families., 13th century-15th century, 1861.
A discontinued contents list is at folio 2. A letter, 1861, of Robert Riddell formerly pinned to folio 6 has been tipped in inside the back cover (folio i). An incorrect pagination has been ignored.
Volumes containing notes and other writings of John Gray and others., 1598-[circa 1702], undated.
MSS.16468-16471 include notes and other writings of John Gray. MSS.16472-16478 are notebooks containing lecture notes and other writings by other, unrelated, students at Edinburgh University. These latter, which were part of the Gray library, may have been previously in Gray's possession.

Papers of James Seton's son, George, who served with the private shipping firm of Forbes and Company, Bombay, and was appointed commander of the vessel 'Lowgee Family'. By 1825 he had returned to Scotland and married Isabella Bruce, niece of James Laing of Streatham (for her correspondence see MS.19222). He purchased the property of Potterhill in Perth in 1823 and died in 1842.

By 1945 he was in Italy, and in the autumn of that year he was transferred to the Education Corps and posted to Greece before being sent home in 1946. His notebooks contain poetic, linguistic and political material in several languages.
