Alexander de Forbes (c.1380-1448) was created the 1st Lord Forbes around 1440, the Lords Forbes of Pitsligo were descended from Sir William Forbes, brother of Alexander. Scope and Contents From the Fonds: A E Borthwick (1871-1955), a son of William H Borthwick of Crookston, studied art in Edinburgh and Paris from 1890 to 1896, after which he enlisted in the ranks and helped to raise the Scottish Sharpshooters, 70th company of the XVIII Battalion of the Imperial Yeomanry. He served in the Boer and First World Wars, retiring from the army in 1919 as honorary Staff Captain. Scope and Contents

Margaret Anna Dalrymple, Lady Newhailes, was the first wife of Sir David Dalrymple, 2nd Baronet of Newhailes. The daughter of Sir Mark John MacTaggart-Stewart, 1st Baronet of Southwick, Lady Dalrymple was divorced from Sir David in 1919 and married Sir Patrick Graham Blake, 5th Baronet of Langham in 1925. She died in 1962.

This series contains two original bound scrapbooks created by John Hinde to record his time as Chief Expeditions Officer on the training schooner, 'Captain Scott'. Scrapbooks primarily contain press cuttings and ephemera, with volume I also including some loose enclosures in the form of photographs, letters, notes, and ephemera. For ease, these loose items have been housed seperately in a folder alongside the volume.
