Folio 42 is an image of the joined folios captured using a strong light that has been shone through the folios. It shows the content of folio 108 verso superimposed over that of 109 recto. See D Stevens in ‘Musica Disciplina’, volume xiii, page 156 note.

Photostats of manuscript insertions in the British Library copy (C.25.c.10(1)) of the first edition of ‘History of the Reformation in Scotland’ by John Knox (London, 1587)., 1559.

The insertions are copies, probably taken from originals now in the Public Record office, of letters sent by John Knox to Elisabeth and Cecil in 1559. They were incorporated in Buchanan's edition of 'History of the Reformation in Scotland' (1644) and in all subsequent editions.
