It contains correspondence and press cuttings concerning Askew's published works 'The bibliography of the bag-pipe', 'Two sets of miniature bagpipes in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland' and 'The bagpipe in Early Britain', and material collected for an unpublished work entitled 'The bagpipe in England'.
