Biography

Emile Joseph Dillon was born in Dublin and spent the early part of his life studying for the priesthood. At the age of 21 he turned his attention to oriental languages and studied under Ernest Renan and at several European Universities. From the mid 1880s, Dillon worked as a journalist for several newspapers, including Odesskiye Novosti and The Telegraph, and contributed many articles to British and American publications on Russian and foreign affairs. Dillon died in Barcelona in 1933.
