The photographs here are mostly taken by Weir and are organised into series relating to his mountaineering expeditions, a large series of photographs organised by place, a series of mono prints, then colour prints and finally negatives.

Papers found within each series have been placed at the end of their specific sequence.

Scope and Contents Tom Weir is probably best known for his long-running STV series ‘Weir’s Way’. He was born in Glasgow and served in the Royal Artillery during World War II. He worked as a surveyor for the Ordnance Survey before embarking on the career that was to make him a household name. Tom Weir is also notable as a mountaineer.
