3 letters of the Gaelic poet and editor Alexander MacDonald, known as "Gleannach", concerning his current publication plans. He also requests that Morrison investigates Carnegie funding for a reprint of the treatise on the bagpipe written by Joseph McDonald, son of the Rev. Murdo MacDonald, minister of Durness.

Scope and Contents Volume of 326 folios. Entitled by MacDonald: "Book of personal scraps, including letters from persons of note, etc., etc." Contains correspondence, papers, formal invitations and newspaper cuttings (some with photographs) concerning MacDonald's own publications and his involvement in Gaelic culture and cultural events. Until ca. 1888, the letters are mainly letters of reference for MacDonald. There is also correspondence concerning MacDonald's work for the Highland Railway. ...

Scope and Contents Alexander MacDonald ("Gleannach", 1860-1928) is the author of `Story and Song from Loch Ness-side` (Inverness 1914) and of a Gaelic poetry collection of his own, `Còinneach `us Coille` (Inverness 1895). After the appearance of his poetry collection he continued to contribute songs composed or edited by himself to newspapers, but these were not subsequently collected into a second volume. He also wrote a large number of articles on Gaelic- and Highland-related matters in journals...
