Biography

Alastair Trevor Clark, colonial civil servant and local politician, was born in Glasgow on 10 June, 1923. He was educated at both Glasgow and Edinburgh Academies. Clark was stationed in Nigeria (1949-1959), Hong Kong (1960-1972), Western Pacific (1972-77), was employed by the Scottish Museums Council (1981-1984, 1987-1990) and married Hilary Anderson in 1965. He received an LVO in 1974 and an OBE in 1976. He published 'A Right Honourable Gentleman: Abubakar from the Black Rock' in 1991 and released his autobiography 'Good Second Class' in 2004. Clark died in Edinburgh on 28 May, 2005.
