Scope and Contents

The volume is incomplete, and there are added, in manuscript, the end of the ‘De jure regni apud Scotos’ with the verses contained in the printed editions (folio 1); a copy of the 'Locorum, nominum propriorum gentilitium, rerumque difficiliorum ... explicatio vernacula' by Thomas Craufurd and Christopher lrvine (folio 4 verso); and some genealogical notes on the Bruces (folio 18).

Custodial History

The signature 'Andreas Melvinus' on the title-page of the 'Rerum Scoticarum historia', the hexameter couplet on the title-page of the 'De jure regni apud Scotos', and some of the marginal notes are by Andrew Melville.

Marks of ownership are: And. Symsone (printed folios 38 verso and 49 verso), Patricius Dykes (printed folio 127), and John Grainger or Grensher (printed folios 137 verso, 140 verso, and 180), all seventeenth century; the name William McClellan in an eighteenth-century hand occurs on folio 17 verso.
