 Sub-Series
Identifier: MSS.5901-5917

Scope and Contents

This part of the collection contains a large number of letters written by eminent public figures on a wide variety of subjects. The typed copies of letters from Richard Burdon Haldane to various correspondents, which have been inserted in the general chronological sequence, were probably made for Sir Frederick Maurice when writing his 'The life of Viscount Haldane of Cloan'. They are not accurate, and should not be relied on. Haldane's own interests are well represented, though it is clear from the nature of what survives, and also from its relatively small bulk, that he preserved only a selection of the papers which passed through his hands.
