The name most often recorded in the book is that of Alexander Hamilton, possibly of Dalzell. The names of John Shaw and James Hamilton also appear. In addition to the main lectures on Aristotle's ‘Physics’, there is also part of a tract on anatomy (folios 119-125), and a short poem, 'The abstract of melancholie' (folio 105).
