Scope and Contents
The recipes on folios 71 verso and 72 verso are attributed to Mr William of Bristowe. On folio 90 verso is one for dyeing silk. On folio 92 is a description of a choleric man.
On folio 66 is the first stanza of `A Dietary` by John Lydgate (‘The Minor Poems of John Lydgate’, volume ii, page 702). On folio 89 verso is an extract, headed `De spermate hominis’, from the South English Legendary, St Michael (‘The Early South English Legendary’, pages 319-320, 11.702-11.729; ‘The South English Legendary’, volume ii, pages 425-426, 11.697-11.724), preceded by six introductory lines, the whole printed in ‘Archiv für das Studium der neueren Sprachen und Litteraturen’, volume xcviii (1897), pages 401-403, and ‘Mediaeval Studies’, volume xxxix (1977), pages 506-510.
