This bound volume is arranged on the crop year system, generally estimated from Whitsunday to Whitsunday. Thus, Whitsunday 1705 to Whitsunday 1706 equals Crop 1705. It contains the charges and discharges of the Gosford rent. Apart from entries relating to agriculture there are miscellaneous items concerning dress, housekeeping, education, and other matters. The volume was kept by Sir Peter Halkett, Baronet, of Pitfirrane (created 1697), formerly Wedderburn, during whose life-time the estates of Pitfirrane and Gosford were held together. Consequently the volume is interspersed with Pitfirrane references and a section (folios 178-199 inverted) is wholly devoted to Pitfirrane.
