De la Brosse has received Mary’s letters commanding him to be generous towards the Duc de Longueville. The latter`s governors are always blamed if anything goes wrong. He asks her pardon for any importunate letters he may have written. Autigny will tell her his complaints, and all the news. Paris, 26 June [before 1551].

Two letters, 1548, of Migliorino Ubaldini, knight; in Italian (items 143-144).

- Item 143: Ubaldini intends to go a little farther into the wilds, and asks for Mary’s permission. Calder, 23 May 1548.

- Item 144: Work began on the fortification of Dunbar Castle on the first day of his arrival, despite financial difficulties. He is unwilling to begin work on the fortifications of the town, as it is difficult to obtain workmen. Dunbar, 3 September 1548.

Letter, 1549, of Michael della Torre, Bishop of Ceneda; in Italian (item 145).

- Della Torre has received Mary’s letter. Concerning the agreement, she must not be surprised to have no reply from Rome, but Antonio Condulmario was in Venice, and Monsieur d`Urfé ill. He asks her to grant the Bishopric of Dunkeld to Robert Crichton. Poisi [?Poissy], 29 April 1549.

Two letters, 1549, of Antonio Condulmario da Racanati; in Italian (Items 146-147).

- Item 146: Condulmario has written advising Mary of affairs to date. Both he and the Cardinal Santa Croce have spoken to the Pope concerning Scotland. He will keep her advised, and begs her to do likewise for him, Rome, 1 June 1549.

- Item 147: The Cardinal du Bellay has learned of his negotiations with the Pope for a legate to be sent to Scotland, and has said that this will displease the King of France and Mary herself. Condulmario claimed that he was commissioned for this purpose, and an argument took place. He asks Mary to write to the Cardinal de Guise, asking him to write to Du Bellay. Rome, 3 June 1549.
