Scope and Contents

This copy was formerly in the possession of Major-General C S Thomason, and supplied much of the material of his 'Ceol Mor' (London, 1900).

The manuscript has been compared with the original and all the errors detected have been corrected by Archibald Campbell, Secretary of the Music Committee of the Piobaireachd Society, who has written (MS.1681, folio iii) an account of Angus MacKay, the original manuscript, and this copy, indicating the manner in which the copy and the original correspond.
