Helps, Arthur.
Letters, 1862-1872, of Arthur Helps to John Murray III. The letters concern, mostly, the preparation and publication of “The principal speeches and addresses of His Royal Highness the Prince Consort” (1862 and subsequent editions), edited by Arthur Helps.

[Note 1.] Folios 6-7. Letter, 20 November 1862, of Charles Grey to Arthur Helps. The letter was forwarded as an enclosure to Helps letter to John Murray III of the 21 November 1862 (folios 4-5).
[Note 2.] Folios 24-25. Letter, 29 December 1862, of Robert Stuart, Lincoln’s Inn, London, to Arthur Helps, as editor of “The principal speeches and addresses of His Royal Highness the Prince Consort”. The letter was forwarded as an enclosure to Helps letter to John Murray III of the 1 January 1863 (folios 22-23), with the request that Murray should answer it.

Letters, 1903 and 1905, of M. Alice Helps to John Murray IV and to Hallam Murray. The letters concern the preparation and publication of the “Recollections of a Royal Academician” (1903) by John Callcott Horsley, edited by “Mrs Edmund Helps”. Folios 64-80.
Hely, Howard H.
Two letters, November 1905, of Howard Hely to John Murray IV seeking Murray’s advice on whether his plan to study Russian, with a view to becoming a translator from Russian into English, was a sound one.

Helyar, Henry.
Letter, 19 December 1850, of the Reverend Henry Helyar, Hardington, near Yeovil, to ?John Murray III enquiring whether it was true that a revised edition of “The Life of Sir Isaac Newton”, by Sir David Brewster, was then being prepared. Folios 84-85.
Hemans, Charles Isidore.
Two letters, 29 September 1867 and 3 June 1870, of Charles Hemans to John Murray III. In the letter for 1867 Hemans mentions the works that he had recently been engaged in writing, and expresses his willingness to assist in the preparation of other works relating to his antiquarian interests. In the letter for 1870 Hemans offers to revise the Murray “Handbook for travellers in Southern Italy”. Folios 86-89. A further letter of this correspondent can be located at folios 154-155.
Hemans, Felicia Dorothea.
Letters, 1816-1829 and undated, of Felicia Hemans to John Murray II, mostly. The letters concern the offer by Hemans of works for publication, among them: “Modern Greece”; “Abencerrage”; “The sceptic”; “Tales and historic scenes in verse”; “The Vespers of Palermo”; “The forest sanctuary”; and, “Lays of many lands”. Also mentioned are Hemans’ reading interests, some financial matters, and personal news concerning her family.
