Scope and Contents

This manuscript includes letters, 1905, of Hugh MacColl to John Murray IV concerning his manuscript on “Symbolic logic and its applications”.

It also includes letters, 1884-1903, of Malcolm MacColl to John Murray IV and some probably to John Murray III. They concern his reading and his own writing, including an article on Gladstone and his plans for a theological work on the virgin birth.

The manuscript principally includes letters, 1875-1900 and uncertain date, of Norman MacColl to John Murray III, John Murray IV, Hallam Murray and Robert Cooke, on matters of mutual interest while he was editor of “The Athenaeum”.

All the letters are arranged alphabetically by correspondent and by date under each name.
