Scope and Contents
Letters, 1861-1885, of Alexander Napier to John Murray III, John Murray IV and Robert Cooke, and related letters. The letters concern works of Napier’s published by the Murrays, including his translation of the German biography of Lord Byron by Karl Elze, and his editorship of a new edition of Croker’s “The life of Samuel Johnson” by James Boswell. The letters are arranged in chronological order.
