Scope and Contents

The correspondence concerns the business relations between John Murray II and Archibald Constable and his partners, and includes receipts, invoices and other business papers. Copies of letters of Sydney Smith, Francis Jeffrey and Sharon Turner concerning the “Edinburgh Review”, with copies of letters to Longman and Co. concerning the same, are included among the letters. The papers are arranged chronologically.
