Conditions Governing Access

The relationship between John Willson Croker and the publishing house of John Murray largely centres on matters surrounding the 'Quarterly Review'. Croker had been one of the founding contributors and he often contributed more than one article to each edition. In total, he contributed to 270 articles, until he gave up his connection with the periodical in 1854.

The letters of Croker in this subseries are chiefly to John Murray [II] and John Murray [III]. In addition to news relating to the 'Quarterly Review', they also cover topics such as his own works, politics and politicians, literary figures, and new publications. In addition, there are some letters and copies of letters to or concerning Croker, including letters of John Murray [II], John Murray [III] and George Barrow.
