Scope and Contents
Whitwell Elwin and the publishing house of John Murray had a close connection over the second half of the 19th century. Not only was Elwin a Murray author, he was also the editor of the 'Quarterly Review' for seven years. A large and thorough correspondence has survived, detailing their relationship and many issues concerning Elwin, Murray and the 'Quarterly Review'. The letters here are mostly of Elwin to John Murray [III], although there are some other letters of, to or concerning Elwin of other correspondents.
